Avoiding Logical Fallacies
February 26, 2023
I did not mention names in this sermon for two reasons:
1) I don’t want to spread false teaching, especially to babes in Christ.
2) It can appeal to the ego to, “Stand up to the big-name preacher!”
With that being said, I did want to give attribution to the quotes used in the sermon.
The discussion on instrumental music in the early church comes from this podcast by Kevin Pendergrass and Lee Grant:
Exploring Faith, Pursuing Grace; Episode 46: Instrumental Music in Worship pt 3; Church History. 22 Apr. 2021 https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/e46-instrumental-music-in-worship-pt-3-church-history/id1511170837?i=1000518184784
Here is an article rebutting the idea of instruments in churches before AD 600-700: https://www.encyclopedia.com/religion/encyclopedias-almanacs-transcripts-and-maps/organ-liturgical-use
Here is a link to the quotes by Clement of Alexandria: https://ccel.org/ccel/schaff/anf02/anf02.vi.iii.ii.iv.html
The “Atlanta Megachurch Pastor” is Andy Stanley. Here are links to his material:
