It’s a simple question some people find difficult to answer.
Will you believe he is the Christ, the Son of the living God? Peter confessed he believed just that in Matthew 16:16. It is the bedrock of our faith. The answer to the question you give will determine your eternal fate. “for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.”-John 8:24
Will you believe God raised him from the dead? How can you believe in a resurrection if you fail to believe Jesus was resurrected? Our hope of going to heaven is built on the faith Jesus died, was buried, and rose from the dead never to die again. We have the same hope we will rise to go live with God in heaven for eternity. “For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.”- I Corinthians 15:16-17
Will you put your faith in his teaching? To become a Christian is to become a disciple or follower of Jesus. To his disciples, while he was on earth, his teaching was what set him apart. Becoming a Christian involves more than just a belief Jesus exists (James 2:19). It involves a willingness to follow the teachings of Jesus in your daily life. “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”-Matthew 7:24-27
Will you confess Jesus as your Lord and become a Christian? This is the biggie. If you believe Jesus is the Christ. If you believe God proved Jesus was his Son by raising him from the dead. If you believe in his teaching. Then, what is keeping you from becoming a Christian?
What will you do with Jesus? Make him Lord of your life. Accept the forgiveness of sins that comes from being baptized into Jesus (Acts 22:16, Galatians 3:27). And rise to walk a new life on earth. “Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”-Romans 6:3-4
The Kingdom of God is here. Repent, believe the gospel, obey your Lord (Mark 16:16), and receive the free gift of eternal life in heaven with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
